This award is exclusively determined by the judges.
Ferdinand George Medcalf was a celebrated Western Australian surveyor who combined technical excellence with service to his state and country.
Before and after World War I, he shaped WA’s development through land, mining, and infrastructure surveys, and in World War II he led military mapping as Captain in the 4th Field Survey Company. His skill, leadership, and dedication cemented his status as a surveying icon in WA.
